The classifications of fire resistance in pipes are not based on the resistance of the pipe itself in case of fire but on maintaining the sectorization of fires in the buildings.
The buildings are divided in different sectors of fire and depending on the level of risk of each sector its walls and ceilings must have different levels of fire resistance to prevent a fire in the risk sectors to get transmitted to the adjacent sectors. The ducts are installations that run through different sectors of fire, which is why they are potential elements of fire transmission between sectors.
Besides this 4-hour fire rating chimney systems Jeremias offers also three different fire rated ducting systems. The resistance to fire of the ducts is precisely the ability of these ducts to prevent such transmission of fire between various sectors through which they run, regardless of the fact that after the fire the duct itself may not be usable again. These fire resistances are measured in minutes, which is the time during which it is guaranteed that the ducts will not transmit the fire. A duct with classification EI30, means that for at least 30 minutes it is guaranteed that the duct will not transmit a fire produced inside it.
Jeremias offers a complete range of pre-fabricated modular ducting systems to install for exhaust gas and extract that need to be fire rated in accordance with various international standards.
